Those who have left before us
are unable to look back,
in their wake they leave one trailing hand
a phantom touch
suspended at the edge of time.
We cannot follow, only read
the language of their passage –
finding them again
in the slow descent of a single Autumn leaf,
among the many sighs of the ocean
or in the finite beat of our hearts.
This is just so beautiful. As I read, I thought of my father whom I still miss every day.

I spend time in the kitchen, is where I feel him most
his joy of living bouncing off the walls
In this small galley .
I miss his guidance, still repeat in my mind
every word he spoke, precious ,
Words melted, fusing from steaming pots
and I know he is close.
Sometimes I hear a noise , in the galley
and a picture of him arises from herbs and spices.
I miss my Dad.

Grandpa was indeed very special! I have lots of good memories – I will never forget the strong scent of cedar in the air as I played beside his beautiful garden! I’m thankful for all the wonderful baking and cooking that you share from spending time in your kitchen with the feeling of him close by.
