We are among the fallen,
both human born and heaven wrought,
the ones who chose to be gods
instead of children.
Sentenced to wait for the light
between the seasons of abundance and loss
we find ourselves on this long eve,
winter’s solstice just a glimmer
of icy promise on the horizon.
Sentenced to decipher the words of man,
those of us who seek out nature’s scrolls
will find the hidden way to the middle path
until we rise again.
OH Kim, your poem is so profound. I savor each word, put them close to my ears, unwrap them like precious jewels. Thank you for your sublime notes.
