Lucid Dreaming

Prologue –

Sitting on this fast moving bus

my thoughts stray to the dinner I’ll soon

share with my good friend –

bathed in candlelight and good conversation

her home is an oasis against dark thoughts and deeds.

There are still colourful holiday lights twinkling here and there

and a sunset to catch one’s breath about to make itself known.

Looking around me, I see my fellow passengers with their

heads down over a myriad of devices, inhaling

worlds I can only imagine, leaving me to wonder if

I’m the only one dreaming…

Chapter’s End –

Blood, bone and crystal lie tangled

among twisted metal, scorched plastic

the lingering images from various feeds

slowly winking out in that fateful moment,

man-made or nature born, we will never know,

there is no one left, only me, lucid dreaming…

This is a beautiful written piece, I love how you paint the image for your readers. Not everyone can write a prose without leading me to boredom, but you wrote it so well that I was intrigued to know more and continue reading till the end.

    Beautiful.

  6. Such a lovely poem. Apparently, you would be one of those very rare people whose eyes are lost in the anticipation of a dinner meeting with a friend and not locked onto a screen. Sometimes, I wonder if technology has limited man’s imagination to gaming, apps and other electronic devices.
Hope you had a wonderful dinner with your friend!
