Words shimmer on the newsprint page,
a desert mirage promising lush green
amid the anarchy.
Falling from the lips of
wily wizards and sharp eyed visionaries,
they weave a tale that rivals the books out of time
that we covet and collect.
A tale, once legend
now wrapped in prophecy
foretelling the unavoidable –
there will be war
after four turnings
as nations traverse a span of eighty years.
Instead, we can lay our weapons down
choose transcendence over war
and usher in a new age.
Suspended in air
this theatre of choice, where
History repeats, echoic
like an unfinished game of
Musical chairs.
Not enough love, food
compassion, imbalance.
Stirring the misery ,fear and
yet we still have choice.
CHOOSE.

Love both your poems, your mom and yours. Hopefully we can change the world with love and food. Have we gone too far already provoking a war? Scary to think about it. Beautiful poem Kim. ❤️✨

I’m so glad you enjoyed both of our poems – I love the idea of changing the world with both love and food, there is great alchemy to conjure with both! I hope you are feeling better, dear neighbour!

Thank you (as always!), I came across this theory in a recent newspaper read and thought, “Why does this fourth turning have to be inevitable? hence the title of my poem. We can turn the tides that wash over our world if we have the will.
